  • Dogs Aid (Dublin, Ireland) -
Dogs Aid started up in 1987 in the Ballymun flats complex of north Dublin. Three women who shared a pro-life policy joined forces and formed the group Dogs Aid. One of these women was a veterinary surgeon who, as a member of a healing profession, was expected to save the life of a household pet – yet take the life of an unwanted one.Dogs Aid has a no destruction policy, which means no animal will be put down unless its health is irrecoverable. Originally we dealt with dogs alone, but have since cared for cats, rabbits, birds, hedgehogs, hamsters and bats to name but a few. Dogs Aid has proved to be enormously successful in dealing with abandoned and ill-treated dogs throughout the city.www.dogsaid.ie
